Coho Salmon
Also called “silvers”. They are native to the north Pacific Ocean with a wide range. Ours are wild caught from Alaska.
Availability: Spring, Summer, Fall
The Meat
Coho salmon is a delight, rod and reel from the northern waters of Sitka, Alaska, Fairweather Grounds. Because it's IQF it's sushi-ready, or feel free to grill or pan sear it. Cook as you would king salmon, grilled, broiled, baked, or as poke or sashimi. Check The Fishwife’s recipes or just pan-seared a slab, squeeze a lemon on it and call it done!
Prep
Salmon will come filleted or steaked. Coho salmon are a bit smaller so your steaks may be too.
#KnowYourFisherman
Our Salmon is troll caught by Tele Aadsen and Joel Brady-Power on the F/V Nerka, Sitka, Alaska, Fairweather Grounds
Health concerns
Salmon is nature's miracle fish; a predatory species that is low in all the bioaccumulated toxins and high in all the good stuff.
Kay Chun’s Coconut Miso Salmon curry for the win! Thanks, NYT.
Sea Forager member Cathi Sweeney says, “We made this NYT recipe with rockfish the first time, and then with the salmon we got this week. OMG! Even better with the IQF salmon, minus a couple of sashimi bites.”
